Are you the official UK distributor for Berkel?
Yes. SMS Food is the Official Sole UK Distributor for Berkel food machinery. We stock the full range of Berkel gravity slicers, vertical slicers, and the iconic flywheel slicers, along with genuine Berkel accessories and spare parts. All Berkel products purchased from us come with full manufacturer warranty and UK-based support.
How can I check whether a product is in stock?
Stock availability is shown on each product page. If an item shows as out of stock or you need to confirm lead times, please call us on 01625 827827 and a member of our team will be happy to help. Many of our stocked items are available for next-day delivery.
Does SMS sell used or refurbished machinery?
Yes, we regularly have a selection of professionally refurbished machines available. All refurbished equipment is fully inspected, serviced and tested before sale. Availability changes frequently, so please call 01625 827827 to enquire about current stock.
Can I lease equipment from SMS?
We do not offer leasing directly. However, we do work with finance partners who can provide flexible payment plans on larger purchases. Please contact us to discuss the options available for your order.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major payment methods, including:

Are financing options available for larger purchases?
Yes. For larger orders, we offer financing through our partners, allowing you to spread the cost over an agreed period. Finance is subject to status and approval. Please contact us to discuss terms and eligibility before placing your order.
Do you offer trade accounts or bulk pricing?

Can I place an order over the phone?
Yes. If you'd prefer to order by phone or need assistance choosing the right product, our team is available on 01625 827827 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm). We can process your order, arrange delivery and answer any technical questions.
Delivery
What delivery options do you offer?
We offer several delivery options depending on the product and your location:
- Next-day delivery — available on stocked items to most mainland UK postcodes
- Standard delivery — typically 2–5 working days
- Pallet delivery — for larger machinery, delivered on a pallet to your premises
Orders over £85 qualify for free delivery. Delivery options and estimated timescales are shown at checkout.
Are there any areas where next-day delivery isn't available?
Next-day delivery is not available to the following areas: Scottish Highlands (IV, KW1–14), remote Scottish postcodes (PA20+, PH8–13, PH15+, KA27–28), the Scottish islands, Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Isle of Wight. Standard delivery is still available to these locations, and additional charges may apply. Please check at checkout or call us for a quote.
Do you deliver internationally?
We primarily deliver within the UK. However, we can arrange international shipping for certain products on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us with your requirements and delivery address, and we'll provide a quote.
After-Sales & Support
What should I do if my order arrives damaged?
Please inspect all equipment at the time of delivery. If anything arrives damaged, notify us within 24 hours and endorse your delivery note accordingly. Contact us on 01625 827827 or email contact@smsfoodpro.com with photos of the damage, and we'll arrange a resolution as quickly as possible.
How long is the warranty on my purchase?
Warranty periods vary by product and manufacturer. Most new commercial equipment comes with a minimum 12-month warranty. Some products carry extended manufacturer warranties. The specific warranty terms will be confirmed at the time of purchase and included with your documentation.
What is your returns policy?
We accept returns on equipment that has not been removed from its original packaging and is in resaleable condition. Returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery. Please note that bespoke or made-to-order items cannot be returned. Contact us to arrange a return and we'll provide instructions and a return reference number.
How can I request servicing for my machinery?
We offer professional servicing for a wide range of commercial food equipment. Visit our servicing page to learn more, or call us on 01625 827827 to discuss your requirements. We can schedule appointments at a time to suit your business, including out-of-hours servicing where available.
Do you supply spare parts for older machines?
Yes. We carry an extensive range of spare parts for both current and discontinued models from leading manufacturers. Visit our spare parts collection or call us with your machine's make, model and serial number and we'll source the correct part for you.
Where can I find manuals for my equipment?
We maintain a comprehensive library of product manuals and documentation. Visit our Manuals Hub to search by brand or product type. If you can't find what you're looking for, get in touch and we'll do our best to source it for you.

How long has SMS been in business?
SMS Food was established in 1979 and has been serving the food service industry for over 45 years. We're based in Bollington, Cheshire, and supply commercial kitchen equipment to businesses across the UK.
Do you have a showroom I can visit?
Yes, you're welcome to visit us by appointment at our premises in Bollington, Cheshire (SK10 5JB). We have a range of equipment available to view and demonstrate. Please call 01625 827827 in advance to arrange a visit.
What are your opening hours?
Our office and phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Online orders can be placed 24/7 through our website. For urgent enquiries outside of business hours, please email contact@smsfoodpro.com and we'll respond on the next working day.
